Robert Brodie and his sons ran a small cleek making forge.
Their mark was the initials B S & A in an inverted triangle (1920s).
Robert was the son of an earlier Robert Brodie, a blacksmith and part time cleek maker who was known to have made the occasional club head at his forge. Young Robert's family began cleek making on a regular basis in about 1894.
They were strictly a wholesale supplier of heads to the trade.
Many Brodie heads went to the Tom Morris shop for their Autograph series and their mark was accompanied by the mark of the head of Old Tom. Continuing to forge iron heads into the 1950s, the firm was eventually purchased by Tom Auchterlonie & Son of St. Andrews.
